About 30 kilometres from the Hyderabad city, close to the international airport is a 11th century temple
This Hindu temple is dedicated to the worship of lord Sri Ramachandra along with Sita Mata and Lakshmana.
The temple boasts an exquisitely carved gopuram at the entrance.
The gopuram leads into the main temple past the Dhwaja Sthambam adorned with Hanuman and Garuda at the base.
The vimanam of the garbha gudi too is exquisitely carved with stories of Vishnu and Ramayanam.
The deity worshipped here is Kodanda Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana. Interestingly, unlike in most Ramalayas, HanumanĀ is not worshipped along with lord Rama in the sanctum of this temple. The locals say this is because the temple is situated in a place where the lord had rested briefly during aranyavasam before he had met Hanuman.
Outside the temple wall is a corridor lined with carved pillars.
Outside the temple, facing the main entrance is a two floored mandapam.
Behind the mandapam is a three floored structure that probably once served as a residence of some sort.
Next to the main temple is a very interestingly designed pond which is surrounded on 3 sides with arch-lined corridors that have staircases leading into the pond.
If you live in Hyderabad, or are visiting, and if you have an interest in temples and their architecture, you should plan a trip to this temple situated in idyllic and serene setting.
